Academic Awards, Spring 2022

Congratulations to the students and a big thank you to the parents and families who were able to attend today's Academic Awards assembly for the Spring 2022 semester. Go Pirates!

College Fairs and College Rep Visits

There are some important dates coming up for students and parents to meet college reps from all over the country.  We encourage parents to attend one or more of these events.

Southern Colorado College Fair – Coronado HS Gym – 1590 West Fillmore St. - Monday, Sep. 26, 5:30-7:30 pm

Denver National College Fair – Denver Coliseum – 4600 Humboldt St. – Sunday, Sep. 25, 1:00-4:00 pm

College Rep Visits at SMHS – Students can look for updates on who will be coming to SMHS and sign up through Naviance – check often for updates!

Fall Play Auditions, Sep. 15-16

AUDITIONS for the Fall Production, Murder at the Art Show by Michael Druce, will take place Thursday, September 15 and Friday, September 16 in the Cove after school. Please come with a monologue prepared and memorized. Audition information and monologues can be picked up on the stage door or in Mr. Foster's classroom (701).

Volunteers Needed - Parents Night Out

St. Paul's Church is looking for volunteers to play with kids in the school gym on Saturday, September 17, from 4-8 pm during the "Parents Night Out" event. To sign up, send an email to Deacon Dick Bowles (dbowles@stpaulcos.org). SMHS students can get volunteer hours for this event.

Fall Sports Parent Volunteers

Please consider signing up to volunteer for fall sporting events to support your student athlete or club. You can sign up to work at either the gate or concessions. Join Mass Choir

All students and parents are invited to join our mass choir. Practice times are during zero hour (7:30 - 8:10 am) on Mondays and Tuesdays in the music room (701).

Volleyball at Our Lady of the Pines

Our volleyball team will be representing St. Mary's at Our Lady of the Pines masses this Sunday for the 8:30 am & 10:30 am masses. They will be serving donuts and helping with set up and tear down. Please come support them and wear your Pirate gear!

St. Mary’s All School Community Service Day, Sep. 14

Wednesday, Sep. 14 is our first All School Community Service Day. Each House will be assigned a specific location to volunteer for the morning. Students will be receiving parent permission slips for this event. Please make sure these are returned to the school prior to Sep. 14. 

The day starts at school. The warning bell will ring at 8:10 am, and students should report to their mentor room. Mass will begin at 8:20 am in the gym. Following mass, students will return to their mentor rooms and leave in groups for the community service project. At 11:30 am, students will head to the Grace Center for lunch and field day activities. Food trucks will be available. Students will be dismissed for the day from the Grace Center. Those riding in vans will return to SMHS for normal pickup at 3:20 pm.

2023 Yearbooks Are on Sale

The 2023 yearbook is now on sale at the following site:

Additionally, yearbook orders will be taken during lunch in the Cove. Parents who wish to personalize their child's yearbook can go to the above Jostens' site and choose the link for Yearbook Recognition Ads. St. Mary's Golf Classic, Sep. 16

Registration is open for our 46th Annual Golf Classic at the beautiful Kissing Camels Golf Course in Garden of the Gods! Please visit stmarysgolf22.givesmart.com to register online. Registration begins at 8:00 am with a shotgun start at 9:00 am.

We are looking for 2-3 volunteers the morning of, from 7:30-10:00 am.

Picture Days, Sep. 16 & Sep. 30

Picture Day for all students (9th-11th grade); faculty and staff will be on Friday, Sep. 16. Senior Portraits and picture make-ups will be on Friday, Sep. 30. 

Volunteers Needed - Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon, Sep. 17-18

Students, looking for more volunteer hours? The Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon races are in need of volunteers. The races will be held Sep. 17 (Ascent) and Sep. 18 (Marathon). To review the types of opportunities and to volunteer, click on Pikespeakmarathon.org, then click ‘Get Involved’, ‘Volunteer’, then click on ‘Ascent’ and/or ‘Marathon.’ Each task lists descriptions and times. 

AP Exam Fees Due Nov. 1

AP exams for 2023 are $97/each. All students will be directed by their teacher to register for their AP exam during class time via AP Classroom. Students will receive an official order form from counseling for the AP exams they plan to take in May. The fee(s) and the order form are due to counseling no later than Nov. 1.

Annual Sports Passes Now Available

Annual Sports passes will be available for purchase at the Football gate this Friday, September 9. These annual passes are good for entry into all regular season home games for all sports during the school year. They are not valid for entry into any post-season events.   

Individual: $75 - One designated person

Family: $150 - Two Parents and children in one household

Extended Family: $200 - Two parents and children in one household plus the student athlete's grandparents and siblings only (not living in the household)

SMHS Competitive Shooting Team

The fall season of our competitive shooting team will be starting soon. Our parent/student meeting will be this Wednesday, September 14 in the Cove from 6:00-7:30 pm. We will discuss the upcoming season and answer any and all questions that you may have, please join us to see what our team is all about.
