Placement Test
All incoming 9th grade applicants are required to take a Placement Test as part of the application process. We use the national College Board's PSAT 8/9 as one of the tools for placing each rising 9th grader into the appropriate level of courses in the subjects of English, Math, and Science.
To register for the Placement Test, log into your Parent Portal account and follow the student's Checklist. Under "Register for Placement Test", you will "Schedule Appointment", select a test date, and submit the $25 testing fee, all within the registration form.
Teacher Recommendations
From within the Parent Portal account in Finalsite, you can request recommendations from your current 8th grade teachers. St. Mary's High School requires the following recommendations:
English Teacher
Math Teacher
Science Teacher
The student checklist will request the teacher recommendations on your behalf. The parent will automatically be notified by email when each teacher recommendation form is completed.
Step 3: Review by Admissions Committee / Notification of Status
After all checklist items have been completed, your Application will automatically be forwarded to the Admissions Committee, which meets once a month from January through May. After the Committee meets, the parent receives notification of acceptance by email.
Step 4: Finalize your student's Enrollment
Upon acceptance, log into your Parent Portal account to finalize your student's enrollment. The checklist will ask you to complete a Contract for the coming school year and submit the registration fee.
Medical forms, if required, will also be listed in your student checklist to complete.
