Good Afternoon All,
The circumstance we hoped would not arrive, but that we have been preparing for, has occurred.
POSITIVE TEST. The family of a St. Mary's student immediately informed us today that their student tested positive for COVID-19. The family did everything exactly by the book, and we are grateful for their diligence.
EXPOSURE. Three teachers and three classroom sections were considered "exposed" to COVID-19. Those teachers and those families were individually informed prior to this e-mail going out. Those three teachers and the students in those three classroom sections will need to quarantine for 14 days.
QUARANTINE. Per public health guidelines, the school's 14-day quarantine clock started on Sept. 21. That means (outside of any additional positive tests) we still plan to return to five days per week of in-person instruction on campus starting on Monday, Oct. 5. State guidance on isolation and quarantine can be found here:
Simplified: If you are in quarantine, stay home. You do not have to be locked in a bedroom, but do not go out in public.
REMOTE INSTRUCTION. As stated above, we planned on returning to full in-person instruction on Oct. 5, and we still intend to do so. Because of that, out of an ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION, we are going to move the entire school to 100% REMOTE INSTRUCTION for all of NEXT WEEK (Sept. 28-Oct. 2).
SCHEDULE. We will collapse the A & B Groups next week, all classes will adhere to the normal bell schedules, and all classes will be REMOTE. Students will remotely log into class, all five days. Instead of being physically in their first period class for prayer, pledge and announcements at 7:45 am on Monday, all students will log into a Google Meet (see link below) for prayer, pledge, and announcements at 7:45 am, and then all students (A & B Groups) will log into their first period class at 7:50 am. The bell schedules—both the regular Monday-Thursday one and the Friday early release one— are linked here:

RESOURCES. If students need books, binders or other materials from the school, we will open the school TOMORROW (Saturday, Sept. 26) on a restricted basis:
- Students in quarantine may NOT come to the school. If students in quarantine need anything, we will work with those families to deliver their materials to them.
- For students who may need to retrieve items from their lockers:
-- The school will be open tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 26) from 9 am-12 pm.
-- Seniors and Juniors, go to the east door. Sophomores and Freshmen, go to the west door.
-- Wear your mask and either stay in your car or keep at least 6 feet of separation from all others until a staff member is ready to check your temperature.
-- You may then go to your locker to retrieve what you need for next week.
-- Only one student will be allowed in each side of the school at a time.
Please keep an eye on your e-mail as we will update you immediately as circumstances warrant. Thank you!
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy, hear and answer me.
