State Basketball Tournament Cancelled
Late Thursday night, our Lady Pirates run for their third consecutive state championship came to an end.

The CHSAA email stated: “On Thursday evening, the CHSAA office was informed by the University of Denver that the school would no longer be able to host the Class 3A state basketball tournament.

“With uncertainty at all additional sites, including a state of emergency declaration by the City of Denver, the difficult decision has been made to cancel the remainder of all state basketball tournaments in all classes.”

The girls were two wins away from their historic title. They finished 24-1 on the season, 10-0, in league play, with their only loss of the season coming to 2019 5A state champion Cherry Creek.

We know the team, families and Pirate fans are disappointed, and it is especially disappointing for the six seniors. But we are so proud of this team, not just for it’s incredible three-year run, but for the incredible young women they are. #SMHSPiratePride #SMHSGirlsBasketball
