In July 2023, Tom Maj joined St. Mary’s High School as our new President. With over 34 years in education, Tom brings with him a wealth of experience.
In 1983, Tom received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Cincinnati. He completed the Teacher Certification Program at Central Michigan University in 1989. In 1994, he attended Fordham University as a Thomas Jefferson Fellow for the National Endowment for the Humanities. Tom went on to get his Masters of Education degree from Grand Valley State University In 1998.
Tom has spent 10 years as a classroom teacher of AP US Government, United States Government, and AP Comparative Government. He has been a Catholic high school administrator for over 24 years, including 14 as President. Highlights of his career include receiving a Jagellonian Fellowship in Krakow, Poland, in 1984 and receiving Teacher of the Year award in 1993. Tom was also publicly recognized by Hope and Alma Colleges, MIT, and Central Michigan University as an “Effective Teacher”.
