Textbooks & Chromebooks
If you missed the textbook/Chromebook check out days on Aug. 9 and Aug. 10, please contact the front office to make arrangements to pick up your items.
Freshmen and Transfer Student Orientation on Tuesday, Aug. 16
Our Link Crew has organized a fun day of activities for freshmen and transfer students. Please arrive at the Cove (rear of the school) at 10:00 am. Lunch will be provided. Please bring any books or supplies to set up your locker. Summer dress code is allowed (see handbook). T-shirts, shorts, pants, and sneakers are recommended as students have planned games. First Day of School Schedule
On Wednesday, Aug. 17, we will follow a special schedule for the first day of school, so we can start the new school year with Mass. The first bell will be at 8:10 am. There will be no zero hour. A schedule for the first day of school will be sent out next week.
Upcoming PPC Events
The Pirate Parent Crew has a few events planned for the next couple of weeks including the cornhole tournament and social on Aug. 13 and providing teachers with lunch on Aug. 15. You can find more details and links to sign up for these events here.
Back to School Dance, Aug. 20
St. Mary's will be hosting the Back-to-School dance on Saturday, Aug. 20, from 7 pm - 10 PM in the courtyard. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. Finger snacks and refreshments will be served. If a student wishes to bring a non St. Mary's student as a guest, a permission slip must be completed and turned in to Mr. Archuleta no later than 3:15 pm on Thursday, Aug. 18.
Club Fair, Aug. 26
Students, do you have an exciting new idea for a St. Mary's club? Are you in an existing club? The House Executive Council will be leading the Club Fair on Friday, Aug. 26 during the morning assembly period in the courtyard. Please complete the "New and Existing Club Request Form" here. Please turn it in to Mr. Archuleta by Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 3:15 pm.
New Faculty Members

Volunteers Needed for Face Painting Booth
Volunteers are needed to volunteer at the St. Mary’s face painting booth at the St. Peter's parish picnic at Fox Run Park on Sunday, Aug. 14, from 11:30 am - 2 pm. Students and parents can earn volunteer hours, and you do not need to be an artist. Please contact Mrs. Krasovec at email@example.com if you are interested.
Tracking Parent Volunteer Hours
As noted in the Parent Information Packet, St. Mary’s will again track parent volunteer hours in recognition of the importance of parent involvement in our school community. Families are expected to volunteer a minimum of 30 hours each school year (June 1-May 31) in activities that directly support the SMHS community. Families may choose to opt out of volunteering by paying a $450 fee. Hours are tracked using the MobileServe app. Information and instructions on using the app can be found on the Pirate Parent page of the school website.
Coming this Fall: The Pirate Café! Students will be able start their day with their favorite pastry, latte, tea, or smoothie. Hours: 7:30 am -8:10 am in the Cove. More information will be coming soon!

Course Change, AP Government
We are excited to announce that St. Mary's High School has been approved to change the American Government (Honors) class to AP Government, effective this week. Ms. Montano is now certified as an AP Government teacher after completing the approved course. All students who are in the "American Govt (H)" will now see AP Government on their schedules. For this coming school year (2022-23), students taking AP Government are encouraged but are not required to take the national AP Government exam in May 2023. All students who are enrolled in the regular American Government class are not impacted by this change. Board Meeting, Aug. 24
The next meeting of the St. Mary's board of directors will be 6pm, Wed, Aug. 24 in the Resource Center of the school. The west doors will be open at 5:45pm. If the meeting needs to move to a different location on campus, a notice will be posted on the west doors of the school.
St. Mary's Golf Classic, Sept. 16
Registration is open for our 46th Annual Golf Classic at the beautiful Kissing Camels Golf Course in Garden of the Gods! Please visit stmarysgolf22.givesmart.com to register online. Registration begins at 8:00 am with a shotgun start at 9:00 am.
We are looking for 2-3 volunteers the morning of, from 7:30 am - 10:00 am.
