SMHS Raises Money for Ukrainian Cause
While what is happening in the Ukraine may be half a world away, it is personally affecting a member of our community, Svitlana Zorya-Benson, our Spanish teacher. On Friday, the St. Mary’s students heard Mrs. Benson speak about the conflict in the Ukraine from a personal perspective. You can watch her talk on our website or YouTube channel. Fundraising efforts began on Thursday. Learn more in the News section of our website.

Community Events: Coffee with the President and Principal, Town Hall
Our next Coffee with the President and Principal is set for Wednesday, March 9. The event begins with Mass at 7 a.m. followed immediately by coffee in the Resource Center (note change in location). We are also planning our next town hall meeting. Stay tuned for details on that. Please remember that if you have questions, you do not need to wait until a coffee, town hall, or board meeting. Reach out to Deacon Rob (rrysavy@smhscs.org) or Mrs. Cross (rcross@smhscs.org) and they will be happy to answer those questions!

Mindfulness & Positivity for Juniors on Wednesday
On Wednesday, March 9, juniors will participate in our first Mindfulness and Positivity session, run by Meg Frederick. (Sophomores and freshmen will participate the following week.) Volunteers Needed for Catholic Charities Gala
We are still looking for a few more volunteers to help at the Catholic Charities “St. Patrick’s Day” Gala on Saturday, March 12, from 4-10 pm at the Cheyenne Conference Resort. Contact Mrs. Cichon (jcichon@smhscs.org) to sign up to help.

Helps Us Keep the Bingo Momentum Rolling
A special “shout out” to the 10 families who have volunteered for bingo over the last six weeks. Your participation has boosted the revenue generated from the sessions; you are helping us keep costs at St. Mary’s as low as possible! Lucy Costa ’22 is leading the way as she has many sessions already covered and several more reserved. Volunteering for bingo counts for service hours, so, seniors who are in need of hours before graduation and all other students should be sure to sign-up for sessions at this link. Volunteering at bingo is a lot of fun and easy to do – here’s a short video overview for anyone who has never been.

Yearbook Senior Recognition Ad Deadline
Senior recognition ads should be placed no later than March 18. You can create your ad on the Jostens website. If you have questions, please contact Ms. Partain, yearbook adviser, at apartain@smhscs.org.

Alumni-Run Nonprofit Heading to Uganda
Crossover For Change, a nonprofit organization that uses basketball to empower young women in Uganda, will host an auction on Thursday, April 7, at Gold Hill Mesa from 6 pm to 9 pm. Proceeds from the event will help with travel expenses and camp material for the organization’s trip to Uganda in early June. St. Mary’s alumni Josephine Howery ‘20 and current St. Mary’s junior Cameron Richter helped start Crossover For Change and actively serve on its board of directors. Learn more in the News section of our website.

Order Now to Guarantee Your Yearbook
To guarantee your student receives a yearbook, please have your orders in by the end of this month. Orders can be placed either online through Jostens or at the SMHS Business Office. Cost is currently $93. This year’s book will be delivered over the summer, so that it can include prom and graduation, but we will have pages for students to sign and will host a yearbook signing on April 29 at school.
