Pirate Football is back! St. Mary's will play eight-man football in the fall.

Eight-man football is an exciting, fast-paced, high-scoring, and skill-filled brand of football. Coach Jim Cristelli will meet with everyone interested in participating in football during the 2022-2023 school year during Pirate Period on Wednesday, April 13, in the Resource Center. Those interested in playing or being a manager, filmer, or statistician are invited to attend.

Coach Cristelli watched his nephew play in the eight-man state championship game in Kansas last fall. After seeing the games, and the support the teams had from their communities, Cristelli said he feels it will be a good fit for St. Mary's.

"My nephew played on the state championship runner-up team, so I was able to see how the game is played at the highest levels," he said. "I have heard from many students, parents, alumni, and Pirate football fans about their sadness that we did not have a season last fall. Now is the time to get to work to make sure that Pirate football rises and becomes apProgram that everyone can be proud of. We need everyone's help."
