A New Avenue for Communications

Hello, St. Mary's family, and welcome to the first edition of our new e-magazine, the Pirates' Treasure Monthly!

The mission behind this e-magazine is to keep our Pirate family better informed and connected throughout the year. In this first edition you'll find information about campus activities, upcoming events, and alumni. The Pirates' Treasure Monthly replaces the Alumni Newsletter that has previously been emailed, capturing the information that was included in it while adding additional news about the happenings on campus.

The Pirates' Treasure Monthly will land in your email inboxes on the third Tuesday of each month. We hope you enjoy it!

Sports Updates

Track and Field

In June, Hannah Turpin '23 didn't need her best long jump to take the state championship title in the event. After a season best jump of 18-0.25, Turpin needed only a 16-11.75 jump to become the Class 2A Girls Long Jump champion.

Read more about track and field, girls tennis regionals and state championship, and and the St. Mary's all-conference girls soccer players.

After two upset victories in the CHSAA 2A Baseball Tournament, the Pirates state run ended against No. 1-seeded Limon. Read more at: www.smpirates.org/article/482057

Prayers for Pirates Serving the World

Living out our faith is a cornerstone of a St. Mary's education, and something that our students carry with them as move into their adult lives. We currently have several recent alumni who are living their faith in a particular way as they serve the world around them.

Both Joseph Font '18 and Jonathan Padrnos '18 are in the seminary discerning possible vocations to the priesthood. Joseph is in seminary for the Diocese of Dallas Texas and Jonathan is in seminary for the Diocese of Spokane Washington.

Natalie Godec '17 (below left) and Christina Haile'17 (below right) will spend the coming year as lay missionaries. Natalie will serve with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students at the University of California Berkeley, while Christina will serve with Vagabond Missions serving inner city teens.

Tom Allen '21 and Liz Vall '21 are also both serving over the summer. Tom is serving with Totus Tuus youth summer programs in St. Cloud Minnesota, while Liz is serving with Christ in the City this summer.

As these and many more Pirates serve our world in particular ways, please keep them in your prayers for continued grace as they fulfill God’s will for their lives.

In Memoriam

Please keep the souls of Steve Uglow '75Eileen Rivera Carter ’65 and Brighid Heaney ’17 and their families in your prayers as these Pirates have recently passed to eternal life.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. ~Amen
