The profession of journalism has played a role in the history of our country since its inception. While the methods used to disseminate news have changed as technology has changed, the importance of the profession has not changed. Starting with the 2021-2022 school year, St. Mary's High School students will have the opportunity to learn about this profession and gain practical experience in both print and broadcasting journalism.

Students in the 21st Century Journalism and Broadcasting class will learn about all aspects of the field, including writing, graphic design, editing, use of social media and websites, photography and creating and editing videos. The students will publish the student newspaper, The Jolly Roger, have opportunities to earn bylines in the Colorado Catholic Herald, and produce school livestreams and other Pirate News broadcasts. They will also learn the history of journalism in our country and the ethics and law that govern this field.

Current students who are interested in adding this elective course to your schedule, please consult with your counselor.
