The last few days have been filled with records and accolades for Pirate swimmer Caitlin Cairns '20. On Saturday she won the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.09 breaking the 3A state record, the school record, and claiming an automatic All-American status. She also won the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.27, breaking her own school record, which also placed her up for All-American consideration.
Following the state meet, Cairns was named 3A Swimmer of the Year and today The Gazette honored her as this week's Peak Performer of the Week.
