The SMHS CEEB code/school code is:
060-295
All freshmen, sophomores and juniors will take the
PSAT (Preliminary SAT) in the fall of the year. Students do not have to pre-register for the tests. Study guides will be distributed to all testing students prior to the test.
The
ACT and
SAT are usually taken during the spring of the junior year, but some students may want to take it sooner than that. Remember that it takes 6-8 weeks to get results, so waiting to take it in the fall of senior year can delay the application process. Students must register on their own at the online website for each test (see websites below). The test will be administered on a Saturday morning, at a local public high school. Remember to enter the SMHS school code so that scores are sent to SMHS. We will forward students’ scores to all colleges along with transcripts.
Students requiring
accommodations for the ACT and SAT must register by mail. See your counselor for further information about the registration process and required documentation.
While most colleges will accept either the SAT or the ACT, we suggest that every student take both the ACT and SAT at least one time. After taking each test, the students can determine if he/she wants/needs to take one or both of the tests at an additional time. By taking both tests the student can determine which test suits him/her best.

SAT Subject Exams:
The SAT Subject Tests (sometimes referred to as SAT II test) is the collective name for 20 multiple choice standardized tests given on individual subjects. Students typically choose which tests to take depending upon college entrance requirements for the schools to which they are planning to apply.
A student may take up to three SAT Subject Tests on any given date. Most SAT subject tests are offered on the day after the regular SAT. The language tests with listening are generally available only once a year, in November. A calendar of test dates and registration deadlines can be found on The College Board's official website, www.collegeboard.com.
Visit the
Higher Education Station online to obtain a list of schools that require or recommend the SAT II. We highly recommend that you research any colleges that you are interested in to determine if SAT Subject Tests are required or recommended.
