SLIDE SHOW PRESENTATION – DEADLINE IS MONDAY, MARCH 8, 2010
The Gala committee is putting together a slide show featuring memories from each generation of the St. Mary’s family. We hope you will share special memories of your time at St. Mary’s and a bit about your life after St. Mary’s like this gem from Lucille Ash Klee ’53 - (yes, that’s her skating to a 7th place finish in the 1956 Olympics).

Please share a few photographs or write a couple of lines about yourself or family members depicting experiences and achievements during and after your St. Mary’s days. Here are some ideas to spark your memory:

• St. Mary’s life: operettas, musicals or plays, contests, awards, sporting events, service projects, school Masses, most memorable classes, retreats, favorite teachers, Scouting, etc.
• Post-St. Mary’s life: college, military service, profession, vocation, family, community leadership, etc.

Memories, photos, etc. can be emailed to galaphotos@smhscs.org. Please include your name, the names of anyone else you can identify in your photo and the occasion, as best you can. Scanned, clean photographs sent electronically are best. Black & white or color are both fine. If you are not able to scan your photographs, you may mail them to: 125th Anniversary Gala, c/o Barbara Crane, St. Mary’s High School, 2501 East Yampa, Colorado Springs, CO 80909, by March 8, 2010. We will do our very best to scan and return them promptly. Be sure your name and address are clear so we can return them.

AUCTION ITEMS I – Live Auction
Do you have airline miles, hotel points, or a vacation home that you are willing to donate to the 125th Anniversary Gala? We are in need of unique, high quality auction items for the live auction portion of the evening, especially those which we can package into once-in-a-lifetime opportunities befitting a once-in-a-lifetime event like our 125th Anniversary Gala. Please contact Gala Chair Jorji Raskob at development@smshcs.org or Auction Chair Mary Jo Resman at maryjoresman@gmail.com with your ideas, contacts or donations.

AUCTION ITEMS II – Silent Auction – It’s a Party!
Parties are always a silent auction favorite -- and they're fun to host! With several families sharing the work and cost, parties are an affordable way to help the school while making new friends. How about hosting a Mardis Gras Party? Or a Tailgate before an opening game? Everyone would love to come to a SuperBowl Party! The Ladies' Slumber Party got rave reviews last year -- we need another! If you'd like to help with one of these parties or have another idea, call Amy Tracy at 576-2278 or email amytracy@comcast.net.

REGISTRATION
Early registration is off to a good start and spots are filling up fast as over 125 seats have already sold. Register online today. Gather your friends, call your classmates, and invite your co-workers to join us for this special occasion. See which of your friends and classmates have already registered.

ENTERTAINMENT
The Gala will feature live entertainment by the Broadmoor’s Tavern Orchestra, St. Mary’s jazz band and others. If you are interested in being part of the evening’s entertainment, perhaps by recreating a scene from one of Monsignor Kelly’s operettas or sharing a unique story from your high school days, please email Director of Development Matt Walter at mwalter@smhscs.org.

For general inquiries or for more information, please email Gala Chair Jorji Raskob at development@smshcs.org.

Monument Mathletes among the Masters at Middle School Meet.
Sparks flew and records fell on December 5, 2009 as forty-one talented and enthusiastic students from twelve schools gathered at St. Mary’s High School for the ninth annual Middle School Math Contest hosted by the school’s Pi-Rats Math Club.

In the afternoon’s game show final round, Will Larson (Grade 7, Monument Academy) earned first place honors, firing off the necessary ten correct answers in a record eleven questions.

Kelly Heiniger (Grade 8, Divine Redeemer; third place finisher in 2008) and Gordon Read (Grade 8, North Middle School) pushed Larson until the final question and finished in a second place tie with eight correct answers.

Third place finisher Ya’el Courtney (Grade 8, Monument Academy) earned bragging rights when she recorded the highest preliminary round score in the history of the event. Rounding out the unusually well-matched group of finalists were Faith Miller (Grade 8, Discovery Canyon), Jakob Bucher (Grade 8, Monument Academy), Sean Prinsen (Grade 8, Corpus Christi), and Isabel Taylor (Grade 7, Creekside Middle School).
